The EU adopted a Blue Growth Strategy3 in 2012, and in 2021, declared the Sustainable Blue Economy4 as a core element toward implementing the European Green Deal. BlueInvest, the initiative authoring this report, is a flagship of the European Commission to boost investment and innovation in sustainable technologies for the blue economy. The BlueInvest platform supports investment readiness and access to finance for blue start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises and scale-ups, and promotes opportunities to investors. This first edition of the BlueInvest Investor report aims to provide investors with market knowledge on the EU blue economy to support their investment decisions.
